I am glad I read the reviews and found out the shades were not white. They are tan, whick is exactly what I was looking for. I love them! The finish is kind of brush stroked espresso. They are not solid colored, but they have character. The packing was a hassle and made a real mess with all the styrofoam bits that flaked off. Unwrapping the shades was difficult. Also, the tape had turned brown like they had be packed up years ago. But they work and they look nice.

I am not sure why so many people called these lamps "cheap" looking. They do not look cheap and they are heavy and sturdy. The lamps are brown with gold streaked through. The shades are beige/tan and I think they look fantastic in my living room! I was hesitant to purchase these with the negative reviews about them, but I am extremely happy that I did.

I loved this set because I was able to get two end tables, a floor lamp and the desk lamp to sit on my computer desk all for $88. I was more suprised when I found out the lamp shades were beige instead of white the way the picture made them look. My living color scheme is brown, black and beige so they went perfectly with my living room.
